Course Content
Students will sit the WJEC Art & Design – 3D Product Design A-Level Course
Unit 1: Personal Creative Enquiry

Unit 2: Personal Investigation

Unit 3: Externally Set Assignment |
Students will be tested against the following Assessment Criteria:-
A Short Course - Introduction to Graphic Co Skills & Baseline Test. (6 Weeks)

Assessment
In Year 12, students begin to build up a dynamic portfolio, which constitutes 60% of the overall result. At the end of the first year students will complete an internal assessment and practical exam to ensure they attain a suitable standard to progress to A Level for the second year. In Year 13, students continuing with 3D Product Design for A Level will explore a broad range of design areas including interior design, furniture, toys and multi-functional products using a variety of traditional and new manufacturing techniques.
Entry Requirements
Students require a grade 5 in English Language GCSE and Maths GCSE, and a grade 6 in 3D Products Design GCSE.
Career Progression
Product Design students hoping to go on to further education have an excellent choice of university courses. At the end of the course students can progress with appropriate grades onto a Degree in a wide range of design disciplines such as Architecture, Product Design, Interior Design, Sculpture and Theatre Design. They can also choose to progress onto an Art Foundation course. Future careers include areas such as Architecture, Interior Design, Engineering and Product Design.
