18 weeks Content: City and Guilds 6219 Level 1 certificate in construction
Course involvement:
Basics in the craft of plastering ; introduction to tools and equipment; gaining an understanding in health and safety in the workplace; mixing techniques; gauging of materials; accuracy in face plane application; thistle coat and finishing trowel techniques tape and jointing techniques.
Units that will be achieved by the learner after training modules:
Assignment 101 Introduction to Health and Safety in Construction.
Assignment 102 Introduction to the construction industry.
Assignment 008 preparing background surfaces and applying render coats.
Assignment 125 Preparing background surfaces and applying finishing coats.
Assignment 126 Mixing materials and applying floating coats.
Progression onto City and guilds 6708 -23 level 2 Diploma in Plastering:
Vocational training in advanced Health and Safety in the workplace, gaining a thorough understanding of in site communication, reading drawings, gaining a good understanding in the setting out and construction of buildings performing plastering/rendering techniques and ancillary activities to industrial standards.
Units that will be achieved by the learner:
Unit 201 /601 Health and safety in construction
Unit 202/602 Principles of building construction, information and communication.
Unit 221 / Applying plastering materials to interiors.
Unit 222/ Fix dry lining and plasterboards to interiors.
Optional group A
Unit 223/. Laying sand and cement screeds. OPTIONAL UNIT.
Unit 224/. Applying plastering materials to external backgrounds.
Optional unit B.
Unit 225/ produce reverse moulds for fibrous work.
Unit 226/Casting and fixing fibrous plasterwork.
Progression into Industry:
As a practicing Plasterer, learners can move into industry supported by achieving the CSCS supported by our staff at the centre. (Construction safety card scheme)
Year 13
Learners can return to achieve a level 3 course
Year 13 Content CSCS (construction Card safety card scheme) Test achieved Level 3 Diploma in Plastering or multi tradesman tech course

Assessment
Practical units to be passed and underpinning knowledge evidence to be completed through on line and written tests.

None required to enrol on this course.
Career Progression
Moving into construction industry as a practicing Plasterer with the knowledge and skill set to plaster /render/ dry line tape and joint /screed to industrial tolerances. Site supervisor, Site foreman roles after time served in industry. Self-employed contractor plastering new extensions commercial and residential for customers carrying out remedial work to existing buildings for clients.
