18 - 24 weeks Content: City and Guilds 6219 Level 1 Multi skills certificate in construction

 

Course involvement:

Basics in the craft of bricklaying carpentry plumbing painting and decorating, plastering; introduction to tools and equipment; gaining an understanding in health and safety in the workplace; cutting techniques of materials application of plaster painting and decorating techniques constructing brickwork  1st and 2nd fixing operations in carpentry.

 

The Learner will select three of the optional trade routes available to them at the centre. In addition, be taught basics in the other options to bolster their learning and skill set.

 

Units that will be achieved by the learner after training modules in Bricklaying:

Assignment 101 Introduction to Health and Safety in Construction. Mandatory

Then the three of the assessments set out below for bricklaying.

Assignment 119 constructing half brick corners.

Assignment 120 Constructing cavity walls in brickwork and blockwork.

Assignment 121 Constructing 1 brick walling.

 

 

Units that will be achieved by the learner after training modules Carpentry:

Assignment 101 Introduction to Health and Safety in Construction.

Assignment 108 Fixing architraves and skirting.

Assignment 109 constructing and fixing hatch linings.

Assignment 110 Fitting locks and latches.

 

Units that will be achieved by the learner after training modules plumbing:

Assignment 101 Introduction to Health and Safety in Construction. Mandatory

Assignment 128 Bending and jointing copper pies.

Assignment 129 Connecting pipes and fittings to appliances.

Assignment 131 installing rainwater goods.

 

Units that will be achieved by the learner after training modules Painting and Decorating:

Assignment 101 Introduction to Health and Safety in Construction. Mandatory

Assignment 111 painting and wallpapering

Assignment 112 applying decorative effects.

Assignment 113 Applying wallpaper to internal and external angles and painting skirting’s.

 

Units that will be achieved by the learner after training modules plastering:

Assignment 101 Introduction to Health and Safety in Construction. Mandatory

Assignment 102 Introduction to the construction industry.

Assignment 125 Preparing background surfaces

Assignment 126 mixing materials and applying floating coats

 

Progression into Industry:

As a practicing multi skilled tradesman, learners can move into industry supported by achieving the CSCS supported by our staff at the centre.

Year 13

Learners can return to achieve a level 3 course

Year 13 Content CSCS (construction Card safety card scheme) Test achieved   Level 3 Diploma in multi tradesman tech course

To be arranged in 2019

Assessment

Practical units to be passed and underpinning knowledge evidence to be completed through on line and written tests.

Entry Requirements

None required to enrol on this course.

Career Progression

Moving into construction industry as a practicing multi skilled tradesman with the knowledge and skillset to operate in each role learnt to industrial tolerances. Site supervisor, Site foreperson roles after time served in industry. Self-employed contractor constructing extensions commercial and residential for customers.
