Year 12
18 weeks Content: City and Guilds 6219 Level 1 certificate in construction
Course involvement: Basics in the craft of bricklaying; introduction to tools and equipment; gaining an understanding in health and safety in the workplace; cutting techniques; gauge level plumbing of brickwork; accuracy in face plane alignment; pointing and jointing techniques.
Units that will be achieved by the learner after training modules:
Assignment 101 Introduction to Health and Safety in Construction.
Assignment 119 constructing half brick corners.
Assignment 120 Constructing cavity walls in brickwork and blockwork.
Assignment 121 Constructing 1 brick walling.
Progression onto City and guilds 6705 -23 level 2 Diploma in Bricklaying:
Vocational training in advanced Health and Safety in the workplace, gaining a thorough understanding of in site communication, reading drawings, gaining a good understanding in the setting out and construction of solid and cavity walling to industrial standards.
Units that will be achieved by the learner:
Unit 201 /601 Health and safety in construction
Unit 202/602 Principles of building construction, information and communication.
Unit 203 Producing thin joint masonry cladding (optional unit)
Unit 204 Building solid walling isolated and attached piers.
Unit 205 Interpreting working drawings to set out masonry structures.
Unit 206 Construct cavity walling forming masonry structures.
Progression into Industry: As a practicing bricklayer, learners can move into industry supported by achieving the CSCS supported by our staff at the centre
Year 13
Learners can return to achieve a level 3 course
Year 13 Content CSCS (construction Card safety card scheme) Test achieved Level 3 Diploma in Bricklaying or multi tradesman tech course

Assessment
Practical units to be passed and underpinning knowledge evidence to be completed through on line and written tests.

None required to enrol on this course.
Career Progression
Moving into construction industry as a practicing Bricklayer with the knowledge and skillset to construct brickwork to industrial tolerances. Site supervisor, Site foreperson roles after time served in industry. Self-employed contractor constructing extensions commercial and residential for customers.
