What is the course about?
This course will enable you to improve your knowledge and understanding of how and why sporting activities and movements take place. The course will provide you with essential knowledge to pursue a career in the Sport and Leisure industry or continue into Further Education. This course will be timetabled over the academic week. The course will include direct teaching, instruction and assessment, together with other structured learning time such as directed assignments or supported individual study. The coursework demands can be quite intense at times but the course also involves practical work such as team sports.
Additional Skills required for a Career in Sport
Whilst Sport qualifications are important for many careers, it is important to realise that qualifications in subjects such as Maths and English are often important. Depending on the job, employers may look for commercial awareness, communication skills, creativity, organisation skills and IT competence. All these skills are likely to be gained from gaining a good qualification in a range of subjects and from participation in work experience.
Entry Requirements
Students require 5 GCSEs at grade 9 - 2.
Career Progression
This course is suitable for anyone with an interest in sport and who wants to gain a qualification to go into employment within the Sport Health and Fitness industry or onto a Sport related Further Education course such as Vocational Level 3 Sport. This qualification helps preparation students for work in the Sports, Leisure or Health and Fitness industries.
