Year 12
18 weeks level 1 course content that will be covered: Basic introduction into forming joints using hand tools and basic machinery; establishing ironmongery for doors; introduction to the skills required to complete the level 2 course.
Units that will be achieved by the learner after training modules:
Assignment 101 Introduction to Health and Safety in Construction.
Assignment 108 Fixing architraves and skirting’s.
Assignment 109 Constructing and fixing hatch linings.
Assignment 110 Fitting locks and latches.
Progression onto City and guilds level 2 Diploma in Site carpentry 6706 -23
Vocational training in advanced health and Safety in the workplace, gaining a thorough understanding of in site communication, reading drawings, carrying out first and second fixing work to industrial standards.
Units that will be achieved by the learner:
201/601 Health safety and welfare in construction.
202/602 Principles of building construction, information and communication.
207 Carry out first fix flooring and roofing.
208 Carry out first fix frames, partitions, and stairs.
209 Carry out second fixing operations.
210 Carry out carpentry maintenance.
211 set up and operate a circular saw.
Progression: learners can now move into industry as a practicing carpenter, supported by achieving CSCS test through our staff at the centre.
Year 13
Learners can return to achieve a level 3 Diploma in Carpentry or a multi tradesman tech course, including the construction safety card scheme to enable entrance into the industry once level 3 course is complete.
How you will learn
Assessment methods and practical units to be passed /underpinning knowledge evidence to be completed, on line tests and written tests to be achieved.

Career Progression
Learners will move into the construction industry as a practicing carpenter with the knowledge and skill set to perform first and second fixing to industrial standards.
Learners have the potential to become self-employed contractor working on commercial and residential carpentry contracts
Site supervisor or site foreperson roles after time served in the industry.
